Another year has gone by, and not much has changed on your blog. You post articles, week in and week out. But nobody shares them. Nobody likes them on social media. And nobody talks about them. You’re going through the motions, and it’s starting to show.

bulb-40701_1280-1It’s time to shake things up.

I’m willing to bet that, within reason, you could start pushing the boundaries on your blog to attract some attention.

Here are some things you can do to set a different tone, and have some fun in the process:

Pick a fight: Select a hot-button issue from your industry, and go off on a rant. Show your readers that you have a pulse and aren’t afraid to take a side on an important matter. Just make sure to research your point thoroughly, and be prepared to defend yourself to your readers. This is a great way to spark some dialogue and get other people interested in what you have to say. Just don’t be a jerk about it!

Be brutally honest: One of the biggest issues that readers have about corporate blogs is that they are too self-serving.  Oftentimes, content can feel more like an advertisement than a real post. So flip the script and tackle one of your brand’s weaknesses head on. For example, suppose your company releases a new software version that is an utter flop. Don’t skirt around the issue. Talk about it! Launch a discussion about what you are doing to improve the next version. Your readers will appreciate the honesty. And you may even get some honest feedback that your company can use to improve its services.

Post original comics: Why post comics on your blog? If done right, you can sum up 300 words in just three or four panels. Plus, a good comic will spread like wildfire on social media. There is no reason why every single post has to be an article or video. Mixing up your posts with new forms of media from time to time will keep your readers guessing. And by keeping them guessing, they will be more apt to return to see what you are up to. Be different!

Show some personality: A blog should provide more than just basic information about your products, services and industry . It should also shed some light on the people who make the company function. Show what happens behind the scenes. Interview a random employee who deserves some attention. Stage a funny group photo. Don’t be afraid to loosen up a bit.

These are just a few things you can do to add some life to your blog. Want to discuss some more ways to excite your readers? Contact Content Boost today!
